Smart One Agent Program: Wholesale Prices and an API to Sell Domains and Hosting From Your Website

Smart One Group Team· · 11 min read

In short: The Smart One agent program lets accounts in the Distributors (Partnerships) group resell domains and hosting from their own website, app, or WHMCS. The agent sets the customer price. Smart One charges the wholesale price to the agent wallet and provisions the service. On 24 October 2026 the group discount is 25% on shared hosting and 10% on the domain registration and renewal service, and a fixed price can be set for one agent, TLD, or billing cycle. The API opening amount stays spendable wallet credit. It is currently 2,000 EGP, not an activation fee.

This guide describes the agent program and the Reseller API as they run on the platform: who can see it, how wholesale prices are calculated, what an agent can sell from their own site, and when an order is provisioned or held until payment. Figures below are the program settings on the publication date. The amount returned when an order is created is the amount charged if a discount changes later.

What the agent program is

An agent is a Smart One client who sells Smart One services under their own brand. The end customer orders a domain or a hosting plan on the agent's website or in the agent's WHMCS. The agent's system calls the Smart One API. The platform registers the domain or creates the hosting account and debits the agent's wallet.

The service is created on the agent's own Smart One account. Smart One does not open a portal user for each end customer. The agent owns the sale, the retail price, and front-line support, then manages the domain or hosting through the API. Registrar credentials and the server panel password are not handed to the agent. Pricing and provisioning stay on this platform.

The program is currently visible to the Distributors (Partnerships) client group. An account outside that group does not see API & Reseller, and its keys do not work. To join the group, write through the contact page or the partners page.

How activation works

Once the account is in the distributors group, the section appears in the client portal at API & Reseller. Activation is immediate from the account, with no extra approval ticket, when three conditions are true:

  • An administrator has the module turned on.
  • The account is inside the distributors group.
  • The wallet balance is at least the opening threshold.

The opening threshold is currently 2,000 EGP. That money remains spendable balance. It is not deducted as a program fee. Below the threshold, the page sends the client to top up the wallet. On activation the agent chooses API, WHMCS, or both.

If an administrator disables the module, or suspends one agent, new orders stop. Services already provisioned stay active.

The special agent prices

The public pricing page is the visitor price. Agents do not buy at that price. An agent's cost is built in three layers, and the server recomputes it. A price typed by the agent's website is ignored.

  1. Distributors group discount. On 24 October 2026 the discount is 25% on the shared-hosting category and 10% on the domain registration and renewal service. A product outside that category does not inherit the hosting rate.
  2. A discount on that agent. An administrator can add a percentage on the agent's API access. It applies only when no matching fixed price exists.
  3. A fixed wholesale price. A price for a combination of service, domain TLD, operation (registration, renewal, transfer, or hosting), and billing cycle. When a fixed price matches, it is used as-is and the percentage is not added on top. The most specific match wins.

Example: an agent sells shared hosting on their site at 150 EGP a month. Smart One debits the partnership price, or that agent's fixed price if one is set. The gap between the retail price and the wholesale price is the agent's margin, chosen on the agent's site. The API does not set the end-customer price.

An unpaid order keeps its quoted price for 72 hours under the current setting. If the quote expires and the catalogue has changed, provisioning waits until the agent refreshes or accepts the price, so an old quote cannot be fulfilled silently. Read the wholesale cost from the create-order response before confirming a sale, and do not cache a price table on your site indefinitely.

GET /api/v1/reseller/pricing, GET /api/v1/reseller/domains/tlds, and GET /api/v1/reseller/hosting/plans return this key's prices after the agent discount or fixed price. The invoice total on the order response is the figure that is charged, because it also includes the group discount.

Selling from your website

Your site or app is the customer interface. Smart One is the provisioner and the wallet. The usual path:

  1. The customer searches for a domain or picks a hosting plan on your site, at the price you set.
  2. Your site calls the API with your account key.
  3. If your wallet covers the wholesale price, the order returns 201 and is queued.
  4. If the wallet does not cover it, the order returns 202 with an invoice and a payment link on your account. Nothing is registered and no hosting account is created until that invoice is paid.
  5. After a wallet payment, or after the invoice is paid, follow the order until it completes. Your customer pays you. You pay Smart One.

The base URL is https://sog.sog.eg/api/v1/reseller. The machine-readable spec is the OpenAPI document. Every call sends Authorization: Bearer and the account key. Every call that creates an order or pays an invoice also sends Idempotency-Key, 8 to 80 characters from letters, digits, and _ . : -. Replaying the same key with the same body returns the first result and does not create a second order. The same key with a different body is rejected.

A check followed by a registration looks like this. Replace the service id and the key with values from your account:

POST /api/v1/reseller/domains/check
{"domain":"example.com"}

POST /api/v1/reseller/domains/register
Idempotency-Key: reg-example-com-1
{"service_id":12,"domain":"example.com","years":1}

A hosting order sends the plan id, the domain, and a billing cycle such as monthly. The plan id comes from the hosting-plan list. The platform prices the order again on the server.

What you can sell and manage

A key only does what the account is allowed to do. An administrator can limit an account to domains, hosting, or both. Default scopes on activation cover read, sell, manage, billing, and webhooks. Permanently terminating a hosting account is a separate scope and is not granted automatically.

AreaWhat the agent does from their own site
DomainsCheck availability, register, transfer, renew, and list domains on the agent account
Domain managementNameservers, DNS records, contact details, the transfer code, and domain status
HostingCreate an account on a plan, list accounts, read usage, change plan, or change the password
Hosting statusSuspend and unsuspend. Permanent termination needs its own permission
AccountBalance, invoices, paying an invoice from the wallet, and the order history

Order statuses returned by the API are: pending payment, paid, queued, processing, completed, pending provider, failed, cancelled, refund pending, and refunded. If a domain registration was paid and the name is no longer available, the charge is refunded. A different name is not substituted quietly.

For the documents Egyptian extensions themselves require, see how to register a .com.eg and .eg domain and company domain ownership before a transfer. The agent API places the order. It does not remove registrar rules.

Test keys and live keys

The keys page in the portal issues two kinds. The secret is shown once. Keep it in your own secret store, not in a support ticket and not in a public repository.

  • A test key starts with sog_test_. It completes the order inside the platform only. It does not register a real domain and does not create a real hosting account on the server.
  • A live key starts with sog_live_. It debits the wallet and provisions the real service.

The default limit is 60 requests a minute per account. An administrator can change that limit or restrict the key to specific IP addresses. Do not write the API key, the webhook secret, a domain transfer code, or a hosting password into your application logs.

Webhooks: your site learns that the service is ready

Besides polling, your site can receive an HTTPS notification when an order changes. Events include order created, invoice created, invoice paid, order pending payment, processing, completed, failed, domain registered, and hosting activated.

The notification is a POST signed with HMAC-SHA256 over {timestamp}.{raw_body} using a secret shown once when the endpoint is created. Headers are X-Reseller-Signature, X-Reseller-Timestamp, and X-Reseller-Delivery. Treat the delivery id as an idempotency key, because delivery can be retried. Verify the signature against the raw body before parsing JSON.

Selling through WHMCS

If the storefront is WHMCS rather than a custom site, the portal provides a zip that extracts into the WHMCS root and adds three modules: a domain registrar, a hosting server module, and a sync addon. After activation in the portal:

  1. Activate the SmartOne Sync addon and set the API URL to https://sog.sog.eg/api/v1/reseller.
  2. Paste the live key, or enter the portal email and password once. The password is not stored. The connection issues a key named WHMCS and stores that key only.
  3. Save the domain service id shown after connecting, and map each hosting product to its plan id.
  4. The hosting server module is SmartOne Hosting. The hostname is the API URL, and the access hash is the API key.
  5. A successful connection test means the key works. It does not mean the wallet can pay. If the balance is short, WHMCS stays pending until the agent's invoice is paid, then the action is run again. The same attempt does not create a second order.

Do not report success to WHMCS before the order status is completed. The documentation page in the portal includes a prompt you can paste into an AI agent so it installs this connection on your WHMCS. That prompt tells the agent not to call a registrar or a server panel directly, and not to invent prices.

Common questions

Can I sell Smart One domains and hosting from my website?

Yes, if your account is in the distributors group and you have activated the API. Your site shows your price. The API provisions at the wholesale price and debits your wallet.

Are agent prices different from the public site?

Yes. The distributors group has a partnership discount. On the date of this guide it is 25% on shared hosting and 10% on the domain registration and renewal service. A percentage or a fixed price can also be set for one agent or one TLD.

Is the 2,000 EGP an activation fee?

No. It is the minimum wallet balance required to open the API, and it remains available for domains and hosting. An administrator can change the threshold later. The figure shown in your portal is the one that applies.

What if the wallet is short?

The order is created as pending payment, with an invoice and a payment link. Nothing is provisioned until the invoice is paid. After a top-up, the invoice can be paid from the wallet with a new idempotency key.

Does a test key register a real domain?

No. A sog_test_ key only simulates completion inside the platform. It does not register a domain and it does not open a hosting account on the server.

Do I receive registrar or server logins?

No. Provisioning stays at Smart One. You manage services on your account through the API: domains, DNS, and hosting, within the key's permissions.

Does the end customer see the wholesale discount?

No. The customer sees the price on your site or in WHMCS. The partnership discount and any special price decide what you pay Smart One.

Start from your account

If your account is already a distributor, top up the wallet to the opening balance and activate the connection at API & Reseller. Start with a test key, connect your site or WHMCS, and read the wholesale price from the order response before the first live purchase. If the section is missing, ask for the account to be added to the distributors group through the contact page.
